    This quote says it all:

Excellent post Dan! I had the same initial response to Twitter as you. But then it occurred to me that “the stuff of life” is not the big births/marriages/deaths type events but just the daily trivia. It’s the trip to the grocery store not the trip of a lifetime that creates a bond. And immediacy creates intimacy. The little Twitter bird should be saying ‘what’s happening NOW!’It continues to amaze me how we can make contact with people with similar interests all over the world. If it weren’t for twitter we wouldn’t be in the Dolomites nor would we have successfully completed the Maratona dles Dolomites yesterday. I think that, over time,Twitter and whatever comes next, will continue to redefine the meaning of community and the friends we choose will be more reflective of our true values and true selves and will transcend traditional geographic boundaries. Thanks to you and the Dolomitesport community for both introducing and welcoming us to this fantastic area. And for maintaining your impeccable record for only using the most attractive models available in your photos
