This may be a silly question, but are you literally running with your camera equipment, in your backpack, on your back? If so, how do you protect it, package it? I’m comfortable running with a backpack on, but that gear is SO expensive, and I want to protect it. If it’s durable enough to take it, then I’m all in.
As always, your pics are so incredibly inspiring. Thank You. I don’t know how you guys do everything you do, how do you squeeze it all in.
You (and many other things) have compelled me to sign up for a course in Italian at the local comm. college. I can’t wait. That piece Steve did on biking in the Dolomites, AWESOME.
Hey Dan,
Yep, running with the camera in the pack, on the back. It isn’t so bad. I NEVER use camera cases, hate them – it is just one more thing to take and they are always big and bulky. I guess you can say we are really hard on gear, but overall it is fine, the stuff holds up, we have a lens go out of whack once a year. Oh there was the 5d that went swimming in the Grand Canyon.
Lenses go in lens tubes or extra socks. Bodies go in a neoprene wrap or a beanie, but usually nothing.
It is all about ease of access and carrying nothing extra.
Dan
Awesome. I’ll try it today. The 5D story, that’s funny. I’m laughing with you, I’ve certainly lost/screwed up some expensive stuff.
I”m all about the light and fast and being slightly under prepared and just dealing with it. I’m tough that way, LOL!
Thanks!! I love your blog!!
Thanks Dan. Funny you should ask how we get it all in. For the last 6 days we have done zero, it is nonstop rain rain rain. Falling behind for sure in the hyper activity. But tonight we are having our planing meeting for the spring/summer/fall.
In the lineup; Croatia, Mauritius, Seychelle Islands, Namibia and of course throughout the Alps and Dolomites, then a US climbing trip. All this prior to the end of October – then likey back to India. Air miles baby!
